Overprint results!

Well,I overprinted some of the prints posted on the blog at the left side of your screen.  I used mostly wild cherry, oak, red maple, sea grape, red passion flower, eucalyptus, and elm .  In some of the previous prints, there was a lot of iron, and one print had wood ashes scattered over it before drying.  This stack was cooked in a copper rich dye bath that had been used about 5 times. See if you can match the new with the old.

  2. Thank you, Maidi. You are right. The prints have much more depth, which shows I have learned more about using leaves for prints than when I made the first ones. I still try to use design principles, but I spend less time laying the leaves out on the paper. Different seasons give different results, even when using the same materials.
One thing I did find, is that the twice cooked paper is more fragile when it comes out of the pot the 2nd time. After it dries completely, it is as strong as ever.

  4. We all do that sometimes, Maidi. Eventually you will learn to keep notes and to identify the leaves used by looking at our prints. The important thing is to keep at it. You get better with more experience.

  6. Glad you like the blog, I hope it helps you. Thanks for stopping by. The vinegar used to soak the papers does not have to b e boiled, but I use white vinegar instead of Apple Cider vnegar. The water used to soal the paper and the leaves should b e warm because it helps the moisture get soaked up faster. Feel free to comment or as questions anytime.

  8. Thank you Poliana. The metal is expanded type, used for helping stucco stick to the house.
